The door slams shut, the key is on the kitchen table. It happens dozens of times a day in Berlin. If you are locked out, you don't need stress, but a locksmith who clearly states what they cost and arrives quickly. Here is everything that matters.
Take a deep breath first: Is the door really locked?
Before calling a locksmith, think for a moment: Did the door just slam shut—or did you lock it?
That sounds trivial, but it makes a real difference. In most cases, a door that has just fallen shut can be opened without damage and much faster than a locked one. The price differs accordingly:
- Door slammed shut (not locked): 99 € during the day, €129 at night
- Door locked: 139 € during the day, €159 at night
If the cylinder has to be replaced in the process – for example because it is damaged during opening or because a second key is stuck in the inside – another €40–60 will be added for the new lock. This varies depending on the size of the cylinder installed. Fixed price, no extra charges.
What happens when you call?
Here's how it works with XK-Schlüsseldienst:
1. Call. You briefly describe the situation – whether the door fell shut or is locked, and if a second key is stuck in the lock from the inside. That is enough.
2. Price announcement. We will give you the exact fixed price over the phone. No "starting from" prices that then double on-site. What we say is the final price.
3. Directions. In Reinickendorf and Tegel we can usually be with you in 20 minutes. In Wedding, Pankow, or Spandau it takes about 30 minutes – depending on traffic conditions. We tell you that honestly, no sugar-coating.
4. Door opening. An experienced technician opens the door without damaging it. Normally, this takes a few minutes.
Which neighborhoods in Berlin does XK cover?
Our service area covers most Berlin districts: Reinickendorf, Tegel, Wedding, Pankow, Spandau, Mitte, Charlottenburg, Tempelhof, Schöneberg, and others. In the eastern outer districts such as Marzahn, Hellersdorf, or Köpenick, travel times are significantly longer—we will let you know this directly when you call.
The fastest service naturally applies to our core area in Reinickendorf. Anyone living near Eichborndamm, Wittenau, Märkisches Viertel, or Tegel can expect a waiting time of around 20 minutes.
Beware of locksmith services with "from €29" prices
Unfortunately, there are many dishonest actors in Berlin. It usually goes like this: A company advertises with extremely low prices ("starting at €29" or "starting at €39"). The technician arrives – and then explains on-site that the lock is unfortunately more complicated than thought, that special tools are needed, and that the quoted rate does not apply. In the end, the bill is €300–500.
XK-Schlüsseldienst doesn't do that. Our prices are listed on our website, and we tell you the exact amount before we set out.
If you are unsure: always ask for the total price when calling, have it confirmed in writing via SMS, and make sure whether the company provides a real Berlin address. That protects against surprises.
